Has anyone put a 48re valvebody in a 46re? I got one all setup with rooster comb and 46re park rod. Was reading somewhere that it will destroy a 46 t/c. Wasn't quite sure to test it until I got some input.

 

According to theory, I don't think there are that many differences.... But, I don't know if anyone has actually done it.

 

I remember some small changes in the casting. And the pressure was bumped up quite a bit. Can't find any engineers here at work that remember working with these. I have some prints though.

 

Isn't pressure controlled electronically? (for the governor it should be....) Higher pressures is a standard mod on the 'lesser' transmissions. More clutch apply pressure means less slippage, and longer clutch life.

 

it looks like some of the passages are larger and the plate has a couple holes that are not there in the 48. The govenor sensor looks to be the same as far as i can tell. They got rid of the engineer prints here in 04 and moved all the 48 stuff to the north plant.
