Anyone know what the connector is that is part of the positive cable from the starter to battery? My cable is pretty beat up and want to replace it but dont want to spend 150$ for a new one with that connector.

that's for the battery temp sensor I think what year is your truck? I can look it up
Care to share the link? Also, when I bought my truck years ago the guy had a new cable that came with it but that connector is different on the new one. Can I just cut the old one off and splice it in or just eliminate it all together and just run a $10 cable from battery down to starter?

got could eliminate it but might set a light on in the dash. You can cut and splice it. Let me find that link again for you. If your don't mind me asking what's wrong with yours?
That connector is to activate the starter solenoid. Look closely to the starter end of the cable, there's a black wire with ring terminal, which comes up to the connector.
I re-used that wire when I made new battery cables for my truck.

Ok thanks, I'll reuse that then and just replace the cable
