Default Transmission line blew

Hey guys. Last friday night I had the rubber supply line going into the cooler in the engine bay crack and blow off of the cooler port, puking trans oil all over at the stop light up until where I was able to get halfway off into a side street. There was a pretty nice snail trail of fluid. I didn't notice until after the stop light that something had gone wrong. I got the green light, started to accelerate and the trans started slipping a lot. I immediately knew what had happened because I saw that rubber line leaking days before but had forgotten to fix it. I had to slip it (about 2-4 blocks) to make it to the next available side street, when I couldn't make it any further, i put it in neutral and shut it down and waited for my buddies who were a ways behind me to come push me off the road the rest of the way. A quick trip to oreilly's just a few blocks away (and buying those guys beers) and adding 6 quarts of trans fluid back in her, fixed the hose, she was back on the road.

It's been shifting fine ever since so I don't think there was any internal damage done to the transmission, but thought I'd get the experts opinion. This is the original trans in it, I've tried to take care of it to avoid it failing.

If no slipping or shifting issues I'd say you are golden

It likely shortened the life of the trans a bit, whether it is a 'noticeable' bit or not, remains to be seen. But, as the fanatic says, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

That happened to me several months back. Drove it, or tried to, several blocks like you did. I have an external cooler and one of the lines blew. It was a quick fix, topped off fluid and was good to go. I also hoped nothing major would happen but so far so good. Also original, not yet rebuilt, tranny.

Transmissions mainly work off of pressure. No or weak pressure the servos won't engage and it won't move. Very unlikely you did any damage running it for that little bit.
