Default Speedometer Info needed

Ok so I have to replace the Speedometer pinion gear to a 27 tooth. Does my 96 use a short one or a long one? Also since the index doesn't go below 30 where do I index it at?

You want short shaft. Long shaft were generally for cable driven speedo. As for indexing.... that, I am not sure...... give the folks at TransmissionCenter.net a call, they should be able to help ya out.
