Default Front Right Wheel Hub Clicking

I bought my 97 dodge a few months ago and never noticed the front right hub clicking. One day I threw it in four wheel drive and ever since it has this click. I have talked to a buddy that has a 98 that does the same. He has had it in the shop at our local dealer but it still does it . Just wondering if anyone knows a cure or have had a simular problem.

I had the same similiar problem on my '96. I had to have the front drive shaft removed and they replaced the u-joints. But mine ONLY made noise in 4 wheel drive, in 2 wheel drive it was pretty quiet. Surprisingly it costed less than $300 for everything.

$300 for 2 U-Joints!!!

In my opinion, on a scale of 1-10 they're like a 3 to fix. Its possible to do them in under an hour if you know what your doing.

But if its clicking all the time its possible its a wheel bearing going. Very possible I'd say. Also maybe the front axles aren't disconecting all the way because of a vaccuum problem.

investigate it. Mine started doing it on the way home one day, before i got home the wheel bearing let go ($300) and the tone ring on the axle crashed into the sensor ($320 for the axle and $500 for the sensor). Don't learn my $1120 lesson the hard way.

ive done rear shaft ujoints in about 45 mins... i had access to a lift.. i checked out on my leave for xmass already (few years back) and had a long drive ahaed of me.. from sc to ny.. so they had to be replaced before that... it sucked being stuck on base for little longer then everyone else..only one in the shop workin on my truck ..and thats unusual... check out the vacum... small box sitting ontop of the axle..with a bunch of lines going to it..should be two electrical lines and one vacume line..make sure theres no tears or dry rot cracks in it..
