Default Oil pressure

Hey guys so I have an issue again. Was having the same issue before, but the oil pressure gauge will go down to where it'd be at when the truck is off and the check gauges light will come on as I'm slowing down as well. I already had the sensor replaced then It's started up again a few months ago after I got it replaced a month before, could it be the tps, was thinking about the oil sending unit but have no running issues. Does great, just hate the damn ding everytime I slow down and hit the brakes.

Put a mechanical gauge on it and see what the pressure is slowing down

Alright will do, I'm pretty sure my mechanic checked the oil pressure last time and it was good. I've been getting the oil changed 500 miles early from my designated # so I get it changed every 2400-2500 miles instead of 3000 miles. Sure does go dark pretty quick.

Was just planning on getting a seperate gauge, but he said It'd be easier to just fix what's wrong with the dash gauge.

Back in the 50's and 60's, the automakers made oil pressure sensors that lasted longer than the engines they were attached to. Today.... if they last more than two oil changes, you are doing good.

Don't buy a cheap sensor. That's the biggest problem.

Like HeyYou said. I have the stuff to run two gauges and it wasn't expensive at all. Just need a Y and the mechanical gauge

I have also had issues with oil pressure sending units and with that check gauges light. So, it seems to be a common issue. Just keep switching out the stupid things. I recently installed an Auto Meter mechanical gauge in another vehicle and is it slick! I purchased it with a stainless steel hose and it is a lot better than looking at a gauge that isn't any better than an idiot light. I wonder if I could bypass that sending unit and would it trip the alarm?

The idiot light is a function of the cluster. So, in order to disable that, you would need to reprogram that.... and I am not entirely sure that is even possible.
