So I drained the gear oil and noticed that it had a bronze/ copper metal tint to it. Would that mean the synchros are shot?

i refilled it with brand new oil and no change

also put a new throw out bearing it and no change

i think that it’s some thing with in the trans and not clutch components

Does it make noise in all gears, or only in 1st when you start to move? You could lift the rear axle and secure it with jackstands, chock the front wheels and then idle through all the gears. If it were bearing problem, I bet the 4th gear is quietest because it's straight gear, doesn't go through the side axle.

Yes, synchro glitter would make it copper looking. Wait . . . you just "put in a new throw out bearing"???? That's as much work as a whole new clutch! You just dropped the driveshafts, exhaust, and trans and tore apart the interior to just get to the bearing??? Man, it took me two days to do that job. You must be super wizard mechanic man.

That is a good idea to jack up the rear end and go then the gears. Thank you

it makes the noise in all the gears

well all I did was pull the trans enough to get the throw out and clutch fork out. Didn’t even take the crossmember out just lifted it over

I’m thinking it’s got to be in the trans. There’s no way the pilot bearing would make all that noise or I got 2 bad throw out bearings in a row

Ah, I forgot you had a 2wd. Must be super easy. No way that would work on mine. The trans is only a 1/4" from the floor and wouldn't just move back. Oh well.

If you need a trans, look here:

Pilot bearing isn't doing anything when the clutch is engaged, trans and crank are turning at the same speed. Also, throwout bearing is only loaded when you are actually stepping on the clutch.....
