Well, see, thts wat i'd think 2. But my old pcm got fried wen i disconnected the negative cable then reconnected it. Wen th cable was very near touchin the negative battery terminal, it sparked/arced & totally shut down. The only thing tht'll happen wen i turned th key on is th odometer will blink.

So, i'm kinda wary bout jst pluggin th new pcm strate in bcoz i'm scared as hell of fryin it again :/

Disconnect the battery, and make sure the ignition is off when you hook it back up. That process should NOT fry the PCM.

What HeyYou said. There really isn't anything special procedure when changing the pcm. Battery disconnected and key off.
But, if you fry pcm just by plugging it, I suspect there has to be a short somewhere.

If HeyYou says something, you can bet it's correct. I doubt you'll find better advice, or many who will disagree with him.

If you are getting a heavy spark when you hook the battery back up, there is a draw somewhere, that shouldn't be there. Does the battery go dead overnight? Is your charging system working properly?
