5.9L 46RE Wrangler swap questions and issues
I think I got it, I had the 8 way plug ground going to the 5v supply line. How is that possible you might ask, well, I'll tell you.
I was running out of wire as I was doing the connections and I used an orange wire to extend the black ground wire, then I went and connected that orange wire to the orange 5v supply side of the pcm connector.
Well, I have learned that the 5v discrepancy on the ground means a 5v supply where there shouldn't be any.
Since I had already swapped out the older gov pressure sensor for the newer one, now it's not clear if that was or will be a problem. Oh well.
I let it run for about a minute and there are no codes. The wiring mess is now a bigger mess.
DerTruck, you called it right again, in the above post, guess I was overly and incorrectly sure it was the sensor.
Thanks again.

That'll be one of many things that'll be done properly when it's time to finish up the harness, hopefully for the last time.
Thanks.
Well, I was wrong about the having to redo only one time.
Today, I replaced the two engine and trany side plugs on the computer harness by soldering in new plugs (the old plugs had broken tabs and the wires did not seat properly)
I went wire by wire being careful to match every pin.
I plugged everything back in and the engine started for a second, stumbled and died. Right now I only have dash lights, the Check engine light does not come on with the key on and the fuel pump does not kick on.
I can jump the starter to turn it over, but nothing with the key.
The ignition cylinder is broken on the Jeep, but it was working before. Right now this is my # 1 suspect. However, the Check Engine light should still come on with the key in the on position.Correct?
What can I check to see where the problem is. I gotta head to work right now, but will be able to get to it tomorrow morning.
Also, I checked with 2 computers and the result is the same. Appears there is no communication with the computer. But then again, the engine does not turn over with the key and I did swap out the starter relay, which makes me think it's the ign switch. And round and round and round.
Thoughts please.
Thanks again.

I also have a 1997 computer that use to make the engine run, but does not show the check engine light with the key in the on position. The 98 and 99 computers use to show the check engine light with the key in the on position, but right now that light is not coming on. And no crank and no fuel pump.
What I mean by a broken ign switch is that the key can be removed in the on position. I do not know if there is other internal damage to the switch, but something isn't right with it.
I forgot to mention, i do have ign on power to the under hood fuse box.
Guess tomorrow I'll start by checking 12v to the computer.
Will the engine crank without power to the computer?
Thanks

I swapped out the check engine light bulb and still no light. I have power to the computer and the 2 grounds are good.
I checked the clutch safety switch, I'm sure a ram truck has the same thing and I have 8v to both prongs of the harness plug. I had this plug jumpered to bypass the switch after removing the manual for the auto. As I recall, there use to be only one side that had power, is this correct?
I can not figure out how or why I would lose crank, even if I screwed up on my computer wiring, it should still crank.
Edit: Got it, it was a bad ground. No CEL, no stored codes, runs great. I am going to swap out the ignition switch just in case.
Thanks for the help.
