New truck new problem (cuts out while driving)
#21
The problem is still there but only sometimes. I’ll start it and go upto the store, it’ll drive just fine. But late last night I was on the way home from work and it started sputtering again really bad. So it’s gotta be something that only acts up when warm or just at random times. It gets worse, better, goes away, then comes back. I’m at a loss for what the problem would be honestly.
I replaced that TB gasket too, no difference.

Looks original yes.
Got it scanned at advanced auto and these were the codes:
65-Power Relay Open
66-Power Relay Short
84-Mismatched Vehicle Identification Number
P0138-Oxygen Sensor (I unplugged the O2 sensor in hopes it would act different, just didn’t plug it back in)
P1391-Loss of Camshaft
The PCM on the left side of the engine bay has a zip tie around it, I’m guessing it was replaced at some point.
Thinking about just unloading this truck unless it’s an easier fix than having the PCM flashed. Any suggestions?

Any idea what year the donor was for the PCM?? Reflashing the VIN shouldn't be too bad. Wonder if it even has the correct programming for the engine....... (my guess is, some previous owner was having issues, and just slapped whatever he could find in there.)
Grab the part number off the PCM, and see if you can figure out where it came from.

found a dealer to take this current truck in trade for a basic car 🚙 Mazda 3, five speed. But if I get that, I’ll get a dodge mud truck within the year so I can stay in this forum. Love you guys.
Thank you HeyYou, and all others with advice.

Right! Every dealer within 30 miles told me they didn’t have the right “tool” / “machine” to flash that old of a truck’s PCM. I talked to about five dealerships, all dodge. All said the same thing. Is there any way to flash the PCM on my own?

I decided not to get rid of it actually, got that PCM module S/n, and my VIN.
PCM: TEM2682RVL29
VIN: 1B7HF16Y4WS725330
How can I tell if it’s the original PCM?
i read that other bucking thread, I’ll try a new crankshaft sensor.
