Default no gauges

I have nothing but a tach, odometer flashing. Cluster diagnostic test all gauges sweep all lights work. Codes that came up on odometer are 920 921. I’ve replaced fuses, cleaned grounds under battery and in the fuse block. put new connections on both sides for the batteries. 1998.5 24v 5 speed.

Cluster isn't getting it's cue from the PCM. ALL the gauges are fed via the PCM, even oil pressure, and gas gauge..... Since the tach works though, that implies that the cluster is indeed getting its info feed..... The flashing odometer is likely trying to tell you something, but, what that would be, I don't know.

The flashing odometer seems to be like a check engine light but for the cluster. 920 and 921 are Input error codes just don’t remember the specifics. Any idea where to look maybe pins that should have power in at the ecm? Just odd the gauges went out immediately after battery replacement

All the info comes across the the mini-network in your truck. So, basically, its two wires....... Got a service manual for your truck yet? Get one here.

hey there HeyYou, i ran every procedure in the FSM to a T, even redid the whole process 2 more times. the cluster is not at fault and all fuses are replaced for good measure. self diagnostic on the cluster run as it should, all bulbs illuminate, all gauges sweep and return the the relaxed position. codes 920 and 921 still present. thing is i dont have a mopar scan tool to continue the diagnosis but ive done what i can. unless you have a recommendation on what to try next i think its gotta go to my friends at the local dealer for completion of the issue

OK, couple possible causes.

1. Grounds. According to theory, there are two on the dash itself. Consult FSM for where they are. There is also the main engine grounds up by the power steering pump. Definitely check those.

2. Poor battery connection on negative terminal.

3. Failing PCM........

Cant be battery connection as I put new terminals on it

what section of the FSM would you look first


god I hope it’s not the ecm, could I try my old 01 ram 1500 ecm engine off for gauge function?
