There are companies that offer controllers for other transmissions, and adapters and such, but, that is thousands of dollars, and you still need to buy the trans..... Not really a viable option as far as I am concerned. (regearing would be MUCH cheaper.....)

 

A back-of-the-napkin calculation shows that the larger 33" tires have about the same effect as having 3.27 gears with stock tires. Try stock tire size first before throwing big money at the problem. Also, seeing that the trailer is double axle it very likely has a GVWR way above 3500 lbs. Can you still find a weight sticker on it ? Or look up the model on the Internet. This is a frequent topic on RV forums btw, the listed dry weight of trailers is misleading as batteries, propane, water add weight before you even put a single beer in the fridge. Lastly, the cam might have cost some low end torque in the quest to get more high end power.

 

I have looked it up and trailer is actually 2880 Lbs i just factored in alot more weight for gear and such.
The owners manual says it rated to tow 7500lbs. I could only imagine how terrible that would be in this pickup.

 

Your problem is gearing and the bigger tires. Go back to the factory size and you'll feel more "power." If a tires weighs 8 pounds more then factory it equals out to (static weight) hauling an extra 850 pounds in the truck.

 

im just gonna have to deal with lt for now until i can save to get some 4 .10 gears. im to invested in the way its setup to go back to stock tires.

 

Might want to consider shopping around for some used 4.10 axles out of another Dodge truck (from a salvage yard or private owner parting out a truck) and just swapping those onto your truck and sell your 3.55 axles.

No you wouldn't, use the same axle as yours. 1500 to 1500 etc
