Yep, that's what I ended up doing. When I took off the jack stands the threads on the lower ball joints magically appeared!

This ended up being a somewhat easy job. I used the thread a posted earlier as my main guide, this YouTube video was helpful as well.

Just some random torque specs I had to use that I thought others might find helpful.

3 bolts bolts on the back of the wheel bearing - 125 foot pounds - also for these you need a 12 point socket, the standard 6 point didn't work and that was frustrating
Tie rod bar - 65 ft pounds
Wheel bearing nut (the big nut) - 175 foot pounds
Caliper Bolts (x2) - 38 foot pounds, these are hex / allen head bolts. I didn't actually have a set of these so had to order a set off Amazon
Lug nuts - 125 foot pounds

Renting the ball joint removal tool was a life saver, totally recommend that.

Thanks again to those that replied and gave useful advice.

Next project is installing one of those steering box braces, hopefully will help with the death wobble and sloppy steering. Also replacing the sway bar bushings.
I'm still trying to decide which sway bar end links to purchase. I've got a 3" body lift and 3" suspension lift. I've read quite a few threads and can't figure out if I need extended end links or not. Anyone have any suggestions? I won't be going off-roading or anything.
Another question. The ends of my tie rod look dry rotted. Would replacing those be a good idea? Any suggestions of which ones to purchase?
Anything else I should replace while I've got that stuff unbolted?

Someone suggested that after I get all this stuff replace, that I should get my truck aligned again. That a good idea?

I was reading my 01 FSM today and it had no mention of the unit bearing. I thought that was weird. Glad you got everything done!
