That may be the other way around - '99 and up using the needle bearings? My truck is a '96 and its got the slider. I'll check other years, but if someone has the part number for the needle bearing assembly, I'm all ears...

Got it from Torque King 4x4 along with the bushing that goes inside the outer shaft.

Needle bearing looks to be available at the Rockauto, too. #USA18052.

Yikes, so got the truck on jack stands. Passenger wheel off and look what plopped in the center cap....the hub assembly nut.

Have a feeling I might have some other issues besides needing to replace the parts I mentioned in previous posts. You guys have any thoughts on this?

Also, can you guys tell me what part this is? Looks jacked up and worn out, assuming it needs to be replaced.

You might have issues with the front half shaft with the nut laying loose. Not a whole lot more work to replace when you have the hub out. As for the second, it's the sway bar end link. Common repair when equipment gets some miles on it. Easy repair and not real expensive either. Replace both at the same time. I mean at the same time. You can do one end at a time but you're fighting trying to twist a bar meant to stabilize a several ton piece of equipment. Take a look at the frame bushings it slides on in the middle and replace them if they have dry rot. Simple repair and it will take a LOT of rattle out of the front end.

Got the old hub assembly off. Lots of metal shavings around. The collar thing where the hub assembly meets up with the end of the axle looks bent up. I tried to snap a picture. Is this a big issue? If I should replace that any idea what the part is called?

Also, for anyone reading this in the future. The 3 bolts that are on the back of the hub assembly are 5/8" and you'll need a 12 point socket.

I'll save the sway bar job for another day then.

Can you give me more info on the front half shaft? Do you mean buy and replace the axle shaft? Sorry for the questions, I'm not very experienced with this repair.
