What I meant is no replace for displacement. Hemis are actually a good motor but dollar for dollar a Hemi is a good starting point. Not saying Magnums aren't good, as they are, but not much in high hp.
@HeyYou I now have the 8spd working Judy have to finish the motor up on my 01 definitely not for the faint of heart.

I'm curious to see what you come up with

Also, if the engine is built right, you can run high compression, AND still use 87 octane gas.

Nope! Which is why I would like to do a 408, and a little more aggressive cam and higher flowing intake. I've said before that I don't need huge horsepower, but I am a little envious when I hear about the power plant going in your truck!

Sounds very exciting! 2wd, 4wd, half ton, 3/4? This going to be for fun, competition, or a daily driver?

Yeah, I kind of figured it might be better sticking with an 87 octane type motor. Just wondering if I could do a 92 cheap to run with additives.

Plan on it being a little higher than stock, and probably just run on 87. Part of the reason I would lean towards aluminum heads, is being able to run a few points higher compression vs. an iron head, all else being equal.

4wd and 3/4 ton. Just something to DD and offroad in and shut down the occasional Mustang or Bowtie . Mostly though so I have enough HP to push 44s. The Magnums are reliable and I was going to build a 408 but after comparing the prices it was only a few more $$$ to do the HellCat swap

When you figure the cost per bottle, you aren't gaining much. Except for old carboned up engines with heavy ignition ping, I've never seen any benefit from an octane additive.

Guessing the transmission upgrades needed factored into that a bit? Or was yours going to be a bit milder, like mine?

44s and 650 HP.. whoo! I'm going to have to step up my game a bit!

Not only that but the machine work, factoring in my time (which is nonexistent lol), a tune (which I would have to drive 200 miles (plus a hotel) or fly a guy out to get it tuned right, and a few other things. Also jts 707 hp
