Turn Signal problems
Looking for some ideas on my 99 Ram 1500. So what's strange is that when I put in an actual turn signal relay I don't get hazards or turn signal on either side. Both front or back will not work. I've looked at wiring and everything and it looks ok. Bulbs are all working. I have a brand new turn relay but it doesn't do anything. I do have working brake lights though. So I even tried putting a normal relay in there and everything turns on solid unless I turn on the emergency flasher switch then everything goes dark. Does anyone have an idea what this could mean? Thanks!
I thought the same thing and I installed a new one. It didn't change anything sadly. I wonder if that wiring harness is gummed up or not making all the connections. I tried contact cleaner and have been doing everything to clean it best I can.
So I have standard headlight bulbs and I'm looking for the flasher but I can't find it under the wheel. I'm testing for current and at least the wiring harness is OK and everything is getting power to it. Just trying to figure out if the switch is the problem or maybe the flasher.
The combination flasher (a.k.a flasher relay) in the fuse box at the end of the dash doesn't work like a regular relay. It gets constant power on pin 51 and ground on pin 50 so check that first. The timer gets activated when pin 47 or 49 connect to ground *through the light bulbs*. I highlighted that because you can't just directly connect them to ground for testing purposes because it will blow the fuse in the PDC. Ideally use a test light to connect either of the pins to ground that should make the test light flash.
Did you change to LED bulbs?

Update, so the pdc is probably not the problem sonce I'm obviously getting power everywhere else. Just trying to pin point why I don't get power to the turn signal relay. Are there other relays that tie into it?
No other relays. The timing part of the flasher gets power via fuse 10 in the inside fuse panel. The lights themselves get power via fuse B in the PDC. Just use a voltmeter or a test light and check those.
