Sounds good, but you'll want to put your post on the 2nd gen section - this one is for the body style after yours.

Think about a new water pump (I like Gates) and timing chain while you have all the other stuff removed.

Default Plenum update

So the gasket was in good shape actually but ALL the bolts on the right side were crazy loose!!! 3 were only in by a few threads!my pops dabbed up a slick plate, the 1/4 inch aluminum was 26 bucks, took him a hour. No broken bolts, no issues whatsoever, replaced entire ignition, PVC,waterpump, I got the complete gasket set from napa, was 76,bucks, came with hose bolts everything, totally cost for parts including a nice set of msd 8.5mm wires, oil, filter, air filter, water pump, gasket kit, sealant, cap, rotor, coil, pvc valve, antifreeze, throttle body cleaner, brake clean, and a partridge in a pear tree was 498.35. Oh and that also included a fuel line disconnect tool kit as well, so so happy I read so many post on this site, was a snap so far, probably done in 2 hours or so.i took a video to show ya'll how loose the bolts were but it wont allow me to upload.

Thanks again y'all 🤠

The new plate.

Generally the bolts are too long and bottom out before applying proper pressure to make gasket do its job. Most just cut down the original bolts and reuse them. If you got new bolts, make sure they can do the job w/o bottoming out.

I’ll +1 on Gates... replaced the original with one and it’s outlasted that... it’s still holding up fine at 212k

Merged three threads into one, to keep everything in one spot.
