Default Need to find out what this part is.

Ok driving to work in my 99 1500 360 gasser and all of the sudden she is blowing cold air... great.. popped the hood and there was a huge cloud of steam coming from the passenger side manifold thought for sure it was a cracked head or head gasket. Took a break and looked at it with a flash light, there is some white plastic peace that blew apart and it puked out all the coolant on the hose that connects to the heater core (i dont know if its the return or feed hose). It is definitely aftermarket, you can tell by how cheap it looks and how it was installed. There was a section of hose presumably cut with this white plastic thing in there with cheap hose clamps holding it all together. I got home and looked at my plow truck (same truck but a 2000) and that same hose is one section all the way from the heater core to the pump with 2 factory hose clamps right where the white plastic thing was on my other truck, but it had no opening of any kind on the plow truck... WHATS GOING ON HERE!!?? What is that white plastic pos, please and thank you!

A picture would help but I'll bet you have an older kit to flush the cooling system. The part that broke may have been the part that has a cap you can remove to fill the system with coolant. These are really handy to get all the air out of the system but they do age faster than the factory stuff. You can get a new kit, a hose splice which is also plastic (although the ones I've seen are black plastic) or replace the hose with a regular one piece one.

For whatever reason, Dodge put a splice in that line. Every magnum engine I have seen in a truck has it. No idea why. I agree with the grouch though. Likely someone installed a flush T, and that is what failed.

Maybe that's how dodge bleeds the air out
