As for the tailgate, the cause will remain a mystery. It makes the whole truck look trashy. I guess that I could remove, repair and respray it. I do have a spray gun that has never been used. This might be the perfect part to practice on. Then there is the matter of purchasing another RR sticker and carefully cutting it with an exacto knife..[/QUOTE]

if you don't have a lot of body work experience or a good place to work on it a NEW tail gate might be your best option over repairing your gate..
i am a body man with over 30 years experience. my gate had some dents and repairable rust. i just chose the easy and fast in my opinion cheaper option after figuring cost of materials and my time. i just bought a new gate from my local certifit for a couple of dollars less at dealer cost.
$190 on ebay with free shipping.

on the roadrunner decal maybe just buy a pair of decals , they are cheap on ebay $10 shipped for the pair.

Thanks for the link. I "added to my cart" just in case I decide to replace as opposed to repair. My bodywork experience consists of applying putty, sand and repeat.

The decal that I currently have on the tailgate, which is from a '71-'72, required trimming. I see that the older trunk decal would not...except maybe the warner brothers under its feet.

Think I will stay away from this decal. I forgot they ever used these on Fury's.

Why stop at decals, you ask? Perhaps I could switch out the horn

...or drop in a 383 Super Commando and 4-speed while I am at it?
