Default NP241 DHD t case chain replacement

Anyone have a link to a transfer case chain with a master link? It’s cold, I’m lazy and don’t want to pull the whole case, split in truck cut old chain off and slap new chain on with master link is the lazy I am, no garage to work in either.

Gotta pull the back half of the case anyway, and with it off, changing the chain is fairly easy. If you don't have a service manual for your truck yet, get one here, read thru the procedure a couple times, and it shouldn't be too much of an ordeal.

would I be able to pull the one sprocket in truck and slap her in there? I just have nowhere but in the vehicle to do the work

You can pull the back cover of the transfer case off while it's still on the truck to change the chain, but I don't know why you would want to unless your working on a lift. It would be easier to remove the 6 nuts holding it in then pull it out and do the work on the tailgate of the truck if you have nowhere else to work.

reason is like to do it in truck is my driveway is a hill, I have no safe way to remove it and it weighs 100 lbs according to spec. I’d rather be safe and keep it attached haha

Why do you think the chain needs replacing?

270k, first time since I’ve owned it that I’ve done a 4x4 run through. Installed a new shifter and checked all positions, in 4 wheel you can hear the chain drag the bottom of the case

OK, that makes sense. Probably should rebuild the whole thing then. SKF STCK241FF Info
241 DHD (Heavy Duty) (Only 1 Remaining)
$165.89
I don't believe anyone makes a chain with a master link. They assume you'll be rebuilding the t case if you're replacing the chain. Block the tires, and remove the transfer case. You could look for a lower mileage used t case to swap if you don't want to rebuild yours.
