Default Multifunction switch - dash connections

Would a bad multifunction switch keep your headlights from coming on? I have had an issue where my blinkers only worked if my hazard button was activated, and of course I also had no hazards. After checking all the connections in the dash that I removed when I pulled the dash to replace a bad heater core, the only two things I can think of are the headlight switch and the multifunction switch. I checked the fuses and relays already. The lights worked fine before I pulled the dash so i struggle with the idea that suddenly the switches are bad. I dont remember unplugging any wires to the left of the steering wheel when i lowered the steering column. Is there a plug under the drivers side somewhere that could be affecting this?

Think I would pull the covers off the steering column, and have a look at the wiring there. I know my 96 would start exhibiting some odd behavior if the steering wheel was tilted all the way up......

I think I will try that this weekend and leave it parked until them. I am not adverse to paying for either the headlight switch or the multifunction or both.
