Default 47re Band replacement

Hey Guys I am going to install new transgo shift kit into my 47re transmission. By question is while I have the valve body out. I want to inspect the front band. Anyone know how to tell if it needs to be replaced?

If you don't have a lot of thread engagement on the adjuster/lock nut. There are slip-in bands available.

Post a picture of the band. Typically there a good band has decent clutch material on it (orange color). If you see metal you need a new band. Also inspect the front drum for wear marks. You can apply air pressure to front ports in the casing to see if the front servo is working properly.

I would also inspect the forward/rear drums for clutch/steel wear, as you will have to remove those pieces. Probably just as easy to tear the rest of the transmission apart and see its condition.
