So i had a local machine shop restore my 5.9 magnum engine basically ground up. I had it bored .003 over and a new cam put in along with new timing chains, .003 oversized pistons obviously, polished up crank, degreased and painted block, new lifters and resurfaced heads, etc. Only problem is when i went to put my distributor in. Went to crank it to tdc and then thud. I can only rotate the crank around 180 degrees. So like anyone would assume, I figured they messed up the timing chains. So i took the timing cover off and sure enough both dots lined up perfectly. Now keep in mind i am no expert so it might still be the timing chains. So i called him and he insisted something really odd. He said the crank is probably hitting the oil pan and i should not touch it and bring it back to him because he put the wrong oil pan on. So first, i look up the part number on the oil pan and sure enough it’s the right one lol. A 5.9 oil pan is a 5.9 oil pan. So like anyone else would do, i pulled the pan and cranked it and sure enough, thud. I inspected the crank while spinning it to see if maybe he used too long of a bolt somewhere and it was getting caught up but no. So i’m lost. I also stuck a boroscope in all the cylinders to ensure nothing was in there and there wasn’t. The cams part # is 20-744-9. I will leave an image of the timing just in case if someone notices something that may also not be right with it. Thanks
Comp Cams website notes "stock springs cannot be used" for this cam. I don't know how much more lift this cam has but maybe the springs are going fully compressed.
Edit: Apparently stock lift is .41-.42 so going to .48 is quite a jump.
Stock length push rods?? I'm running .501/.524 lift I had to use considerably shorter push rods, valves never closed with the stock length. Domed Pistons? Stock crank? Pull the push rods out and see if it will roll over. Pull the plugs if you put any in, will make it easier.

I do wonder, how complete was his build? Did he install intake, valve covers etc?
The only other suggestion I would have is, as you start pulling the motor, after taking parts such as the crank sensor off, or unbolting the flex plate, I would stop and try turning the motor again...... Just to make sure nothing you added is binding.
Also, if you disassemble the motor, you may have problems with the warranty.

The problem was the crankshaft counterweight hitting the oil pump. That’s crazy. But hopefully nobody ever runs into this but if they do at least the answer is here lol
