Default 47re rebuild options

I'm planning on doing a rebuild in the not too far future and I've been searching for kits online. There seems to be a lot of options as to how involved the kits are, and the cost of them (anything from $200-$1000). I'm wondering if anyone can point me in a good direction of what kit I want to look for and what other additional parts I'll want to replace while I've got the trans apart. I know I'll need to get a new converter and drum.

I is being powered by a v10 with tuner, but I don't do much towing if at all and don't go out racing with it.

As of right now the trans is still operating and the fluid is red, but starting to feel gritty from what I'm pretty sure is the replacement band riding on a worn out drum.

A stock rebuild would probably be good then. You will likely find hard parts you will want to replace, but, you won't know until you actually have them in your hand. Might pick up a used trans from a yard somewhere, and rebuild that one. That way, you can still drive your truck while rebuilding the trans. Going with better quality clutches/bands probably wouldn't hurt.

Transmission Center (transmissioncenter.net) has a variety of kits, from stock, to extreme. Have a look, and pick one that suits your purposes.

I was gonna try and get away without buying another one to rebuild, but I think your idea is gonna be more practical in the long run for me...especially since its my first rebuild of a trans. Thanks!

If you have something else to drive...... it gives you more choices. But, If you wind up waiting on parts...... Yeah. Like to have a spare anyway.
