Default Steering Question

Getting the truck back to road worthy after training. I had death wobble before I left and found that every TRE is shot. Going to get the TREs from Rockauto and I found the "puck" that is suppose to go on the drag link. My question is what if I use this "puck" (actually called a "low misalignment boot) on the knuckles and the Drag Link? Any harm in that? Synergy sells them here, just need to know how many to order.

I'm going to order 3 and use them on the knuckles and where the drag link meets the tie rod ends

Won't work at the drag link to tie rod interface. It hits at too much of an angle. (Yeah, I tried that.) Putting them out at the TRE's should work just fine though. Do you have the HD steering?

Yep! I thought the factory drag link had one?

Nope. I spend 40 bucks on a hunk of delrin, that was supposed to solve this particular issue. Unfortunately, it was designed for the GM heavy duty steering, and the geometry on those is just a bit different. Due to the angle the drag link connects to the tie bar at, no way you can put anything in there to prevent roll.

I think if you can prevent the tie rod itself from rolling, with the bushings on the ends, the drag link simply won't matter.

I'll do some "scientific" experiments and report my findings

I would appreciate that. I need to do the same thing.... I have some bushings on my desk, just haven't had the motivation to go out and play. Too friggin' cold out.

Taking a quick look I don't see why the puck wouldn't work but more to come
