First time inspecting parking brake, is this normal?
1998 1500 5.2 4x2
I'm finally diving into fixing my parking brake after many years because it's always been weak. I changed a wheel cylinder and realized the cable was snapped inside the right rear drum, so I was assuming that's all it was, and was about to replace the right rear cable, but looking at the setup is having me wonder what I'm looking at. This is the first time I've looked at the parking brake assembly since I got the truck, and first time I've messed with parking brake cables. I've watched some youtube videos, but can't find anything matching what I'm seeing under my truck. Was my parking brake rigged by the person before me, or is this normal?.....here's some pics. What do I need to buy and install to get it right?
Thanks

The two hook thing is a turnbuckle. That is NOT stock. I use those to tension the wires on the clothes line....... The cables wrapped around and clamped are not stock either. Somebody jerry-rigged that.
