Soaking it in kerosene than dropping the pan might work

So I put my truck back together. The engine light is now off which is good because its been on since I bought the truck. Only problem now is that the truck is still idling at about 800 rpms, and that it is not shifting correctly. it sounds like it is revving up way to much before it switches gears. I feel like I'm going to blow the engine or something. any ideas guys? Thanks for all the help to you guys.

No slack in the TV cable. There is an adjustment procedure in the factory service manual. If you don't have one yet, get one here.
