Hello, all! I was wondering if anybody could confirm, or dismiss if the OEM shocks of the '96 RAM were Rancho 5000's? I was looking for the OEM (OEM freak) Shocks, and MoparPartsGiant listed the Rancho's as an OEM part. Thank you

 

I do not believe they were the OEM shocks.

 

Maybe on the off-road edition trucks..... but, those were 00-01 only I believe.

Nope. Off Road edition was a special version that included 4.10 gears, tow hooks, trussed front axle, and more skid plates

 

Stock shocks were from Monroe, with dampers tuned to the vehicle... what Monroe model they were based on I don’t remember, but it wasn’t the Rancho, as that was an performance upgrade option in testing.

 

Rancho is owned by Monroe but even so i don't think they would use the same #'s. The "off road" edition used shocks with a bit more travel than the standard trucks did. On a side note when i first got my truck some 20 years ago i put on Rancho 5000's They didn't last the 20 years. But if you buy them today they will give you a lifetime warranty. That is if you register on their web site.

 

Monroe own a wide range of automotive product brand names, and not just shocks... they’re into everything from exhausts to packaging.

Shocks are a consumable, like batteries, tires, and brakes... a vehicle “life time” is 10yrs/100,000miles... shocks at best will last 75k... during durability testing, shocks got changed out every 30k, but some of the road conditions were very choppy and hard on shocks.
