Default Dead battery

I have a 2001 Ram 2500 alternator will charge sometimes and quits when you hit the accelerator. Also just driving yesterday and it just dies. Some pointers would be great; never worked on a diesel before so I don't know what to be looking for.

Works the same was as it does on a gas motor. Voltage regulator is in the PCM though..... I think I would check all connections at the alternator first, make sure they are clean and tight. Also make sure the belt tensioner isn't seized up, and the belt actually turns the alternator when you step on the go-pedal.

Welcome to DF!
