Default 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Noise....

Howdy, I am new to the forum. I recently purchased a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd single cab truck, i'm the third owner and know the other two owners. Recently the truck started making an odd noise, only when its in Drive and in motion, or parked in Gear with a foot on the brake. The noise sounds like a squeaking noise, almost as if its coming from the firewall area. I have searched, and found a YouTube video that describes this similar sound, this video referenced the transmission linkage? I followed a rod that comes off of the steering column and connects to the side of the transmission. If I wiggle this rod, it sort of re-creates the sound. The rod is connected to another horizontal rod, I am assuming this is all connected together for shifting purposes. The rods are connected together by bushings, and it appears one of the bushings has gone bad. Does anyone have any advice or have experienced a similar noise and if so, what did you do to diagnose and fix it?

Then was a bulletin about the shifter leakage making a sound. I'll see if I can find it and post. But in the mean time, Add some grease on the shifter rod and see if the sound is gone.

If that doesn't fix it, it could be a cracked flex plate.

If there was a cracked flex plate you would have a noise when starting and when shutting down the engine. You could also see if the plate is cracked by removing the inspection cover in front of the transmission and check the torque converter bolts which will either 9/16 (14mm) or 18 mm.Now if it a buzzing sound in reverse, that would be the valve body. Because there is a plate on the valve body that is too small and needs to removed and drilled out. Just everyone knows, I have been online for a while and was called back to action. I have been a mopar transmission tech for the last 30 years and driveable tech 15 years, total 45 years.

I have a buzzing in reverse thought it was the tranny pump going. What plate needs drilled?
