Default A/C control mystery

Anybody happen to know what the story is with the two different faceplates for the A/C & heater control ? They are different in that one version has the snowflake pictogram for the 'split air' setting and the other doesn't. Even more weird, my truck doesn't have it but the A/C runs in that setting. Just noticed that as I fixed the A/C.

The AC works on the first three settings as well as both defrost. Only the face and floor vents keep the compressor off. As for the different logos, it's different suppliers I suppose.

Someone may have grabbed the wrong part to slap on at the production line. I remember seeing a Dodge Volare at the Dodge dealer when I was picking up parts once. It said Aspen on one side but Volare on the other.

It may mean recalculate, No designation for that. Do you have a owners manual for the top one? If not you may find it on line somewhere.
