Default Should the ac compressor cycle on and off or not

Hi ,I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9 and the ac is not blowing air cold enough to cool you off, on a side note the ac compressor pulley was making a noise so I took the pulley off and replaced it. The air is still not really cold before the air compressor would cycle on and off now when I turn it on the compressor kicks on but doesn't shut off should the compressor cycle on and off?

Depends on conditions. Ideally, compressor should run *most* of the time. May wanna put some gauges on it, and see what pressures look like. Also want to look at the blend door. The coupler between the little stepper motor, and the axle for the door, is notorious for cracking, and you don't get full movement of the door.

Ok, so why would the ac compressor cycle on and off before I put the bearing on and now it doesn't cycle nothing ever exploded when i did this? Where exactly is this stepper motor?

Could have been to much resistance and the clutch was disengaging.

The stepper motor is in the HVAC box (passenger side behind the dash)

Nope there are 3 screws that hold it in, one is a real pain to get to as all the screws are on the bottom of the box.

Ok so I take that out and I'm looking for a cracked plastic bushing? If it is broken is there a manual way to turn the door to full air to see if that was my only problem?

Yeah you also want to check the part of the door the motor goes on it can crack and you SHOULD be able to turn it by hand to check it.

Hi, i took the blend door motor out to look at the plastic piece, it looked good i turned the door by hand and it moved freely so I put everything back together and when I turned the **** from cold to hot to check it it made a popping noise so I stopped moving the dial, what could cause this? When I put the actuator back on i made sure it was where it was when I took it off but it was a little resistance to rotate the actuator housing to get the screws back in.
