Default Drivetrain swap

I have a 1996 Dodge 1500 4wd ,it has about 260xxx miles , I recently blew the transmission out of it, it’s got the 5.9 magnum in it but burns oil, I’ve also got a 2001 Dodge 1500 4wd with the 5.2 ,low mileage and good transmission. I am wondering if anyone knows if I could swap the whole drivetrain? so engine, transmission, and transfer case.

You can would have to use your 96 5.9 centerhead (intake I don't think they call them centerheads anymore) and you will be running rich (to much fuel). The computer will think it's still the 360 which requires more fuel

Trans won't have the provision for the 4x4 shifter mount, on the later trucks, it mounted to the body. The electronics in the trans are not compatible with the 96 PCM. The t-case won't have the provision for the VSS on the output shaft housing. It can be done, but, there is a LOT of extra work involved.
