Default Torque converter

Having no forward gears but reverse works, is it a sign that the torque converter is working correctly? Everything is new in the tranny.
Thanks

Will the truck move backwards when you are in reverse and foot off the brake under it's own power (no gas)?

Yes it will. It also goes up a steep incline in reverse, my driveway.

So if the truck moves without gas that usually indicates a working torque converter.

Disconnect the 8 pin connector on the trans. (drivers side, about halfway back) see if it will move. (it won't have any automatic function though, and no O/D, or TCC either, so, start in first, shift manually)

It did slip after disconnecting the 8 pin.

Thank you! I'm trying my best to narrow it down before buying additional parts needlessly.

Stating that I have a "mechanical problem", I am assuming that you mean maybe a seal, o-ring, crack in a component? Clutches and plates should all be good if I didn't fry them while testing the truck?

It's not electronic. So it could be any thing you listed plus more. If you rebuilt it, I would pull it and go through it again.
