The one wire sensor is for the gauge

I recently replaced the one wire sensor that my gauge actually works now which is awesome. But maybe the 2 wire is faulty . Because at operating temps it stays right here. I used heat traxce gun and the temp is no where close to what it says on dash. Driving it around town it stays at this temp. So I'm guessing a faulty 2 wire sensor possibly?

Two wire sensor is only for the PCM. One wire sensor is for the gauge in the dash. If the gauge is wrong, either the one-wire sensor is mis-reporting, or the gauge itself has an issue. The sensor grounds through the intake manifold... so, if you wrapped/sealed it with anything, that is going to throw off the reading.

What temp does your thermometer tell you the engine is?

So either the sensor isn't quite right, or the gauge is lying to you.

I think the gauge is lying ... both brand new sensors now and it still reads the same...😞
how much work is it to replace the gauge ? Do I have to replace the whole cluster?

Yeah, the individual gauges aren't user serviceable. You *might* be able to just reposition the needle, but, not 100% sure on that.

So am I pretty much out of options? Safe to say it is the gauge since. Both sensors are replaced and there is enough coolant in the truck with brand new thermostat and rad hoses .
