Security System Lock Out
I know this is a problem that has been brought up before but I am having trouble and can’t find a mechanic that can help. I have a 1998 Ram 1500 with a 5.2. It started having electrical problems. Took it to the local shop in town and was told the central timing module was bad. So I replaced, after 2 days of driving the security alarm went off when I went to get in the truck. Now it is shut down. It starts and dies. Tried unhooking battery but no good. Took back to shop and they couldn’t fix it either. They called in their guy that does their programming but he couldn’t fix it either. I have no idea what to do now. Never seen people give up so easy before. Is there something I can do or could the dealership help.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you all.

Thanks.
I tried both doors twice and three times and nothing worked. Tried several other things I read on google but it still starts and dies. Didn’t have a key fob so I got 2 and had them programmed and still no luck.

Morning.
I didnt have a key fob but the shop was able to get 2 programmed for me hoping they would help. But still can not turn off the security.
They are saying that the original module did not have security and the replacement did. So it is throwing the PCM off. I don’t understand why it would tell the PCM it now has security but not be able to turn it off.

According to the service manual, simply unlocking either front door, with the key, or the fob, *should* disarm the system. It also says when it is replaced, it needs to be programmed for the appropriate options..... Did your truck originally come with the security system enabled?
