Default 318 mods that cost less then regear?

I would like to know what things I can get for my 318 to get more torque? I found on Jegs a cam and some long tube headers for less then 400$ would that get me a good number in power I’m not a fan of different filters cause I offroad, and fixing the y pipe thing I’d do too. Would that all be worth the money and time? How much power would I get from y’all’s experience? It would be nice to get over 350 torque. My engine only has 120k on it so it has plenty of life left. So would this be a very efficient under 500$ engine mod list? Anything cheap y’all would add?

What year is your truck? To get the most out of your cam, you would need a tune to go with it, that's around 600 bucks or so..... Headers are always a good idea.

well Hughes website said with their torque cam which is the first one on their list will give an extra 20 tq at the wheels wouldn’t need a cam only the 3rd on the list I’m trying to keep it low cost and get just a good noticeable amount to give it more grunt. I will regear within a year to 4.88s with my 37s for max torque plus if I could get another 30plus torque for less then 500$ it would be nice.

Ok, so, your y-pipe was a much better design than the older ones..... Headers will help a bit, but, don't expect a lot.

Alright that’s good what about the air gap intake would that be useful for off-road and normal driving? That’s the other mod Hughes talked about in their built suggestions?

The airgap is really designed for higher performance applications... down low (4x4ing, around town) it loses some (by itself), but in combination with other mods it is still an improvement.
This is the key to any upgrade plan... combining mods that are complimentary... ie; no point in higher flow intake without higher flow exhaust, and then both of those are limited if you don’t have ports that match the flow.
Then there’s your application... no point in building a massive flow engine if you operate in a lower rev range (low flow rate).

I have an Airgap with LT headers and 3” exhaust... I’ve lost torque below 2,000rpm, but from there up it’s a nice improvement.
I also have a tune and run 92 octane.
1.7 H&S rockers (yet to be installed) will help with flow through the heads.
My long term goal will be a stroker, because as the old saying goes, you can’t beat cubes... and a stroker will give gobs of down low torque.

well ya make a good point there and I won’t bring doing those big mods ya got because I prefer 87 octane price tag well I think I know what’s all needed for low buck power now and I’ll keep it simple.

I just installed the Air gap and it does make driving better and make it feel like it has more power as it builds it and the kegger you get all the torque from the start
