Default 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 V10

Hi. New to the forum. My truck is a 2000 2500 v10 and it has been a great truck. The towing capacity is amazing. But I am having a real head scratcher this week. The truck will start up fine, but runs rough and keeps dropping it's revs to below 500. Then when I try to drive it'll darn near stall for a couple seconds and then take off almost squeeling the tires. A weird quirk is I have also noticed that my AC is not working. It was working great the day before but is now no longer pumping out the cold air. There are not codes showing on the dash. Any ideas what I should look for? Thank you.

PS. This has happened in the past and a new tank of gas and it just stopped one day. This is the 3rd time happening in 5 years I've had the truck. less than 120k miles.

Think I might start with cleaning the throttle body...... and testing the TPS. Given the intermittent nature of the problem though..... test may or may not show anything.

Does the V10 have an idle controller like the V8s? Not much experience with em but i Know I had that go bad on one of my 360s, itd want to stall sitting at a stop light if you didnt hold the pedal slightly

After a few more days of driving. I have started to hear back firing and it smells like the fuel mixture might be rich. Would bad O2 sensors cause it to run rough and possibly put the truck into limp mode which isn't allowing the air conditioning to work? I am still working to find if it has an idle controller or not.

Air conditioning is a separate issue.

O2 sensors can most certainly make it run bad. Unhook the front sensors (which may be all you have.....) see if it runs any better.

I pulled the sensors and the truck is running so much better. So I will be replacing those. I just find it weird that both the AC and the engine would start running poorly at the same time. I am looking at getting the NTK ones from Rock Auto.

NTK are the recommended ones
