None after the cat?

 

Do you think there’s supposed to be another cat then? If so, maybe my 5th o2sensor reading I’m getting is from the sensor that’s supposed to be in the other cat? Would it even work that way?

 

No. I don't even think they were there from the factory......

That's entirely possible..... two right after the manifolds, and a third further downstream.... I would guess the sensor would be after the cat, to monitor efficiency, but hey, ya just never know.

 

According to the FSM and my trusty old OTC genisys there are 4 O2 sensors on a CA V10 truck. One in each downpipe, one before and one after the cat. Federal emissions trucks only have the sensors in the downpipes and dual cats with air injection.

 

So, the Cali edition should only have 1 cat for sure? And there’s no air induction lines? No wonder I couldn’t find them, lol. On my scanner it has options for several more banks and sensors. However they have no readings cause they are not present. There is clearly some sort of Sensors that my scanner reads as an o2 sensor that I cannot figure out what the hell it is. Things that make ya go hmmmmmm...I’ll post a pic of the scanner and maybe somebody will know something. Thanx guys Lynn

Ok, Your truck thinks it does indeed have five O2 sensors...... can you lay hands on all of them? They will all be in the exhaust....... Trace their wiring back to the connector as well, I wonder if some of them aren't doubled up....

 

Curious indeed. I wonder if that's a quirk in the PCM software. Looks like bank 1 sensor 2 and bank 2 sensor 2 read the same value which would make somewhat sense as that's the reading after the Y-pipe combines bank 1 and 2, right before the cat. And yes for all I know the CA V10 has only one cat.

 

Man, I’ve crawled all over over that exhaust. There’s not another one there, that I can see anyways. Does this mean that I should have 2 cats then? I’m so cornfused and my head hurts from scratching it and my ol’ man smooth doesn’t wanna hear another word about it. Is there another sensor that sometimes reads like an o2 sensor? Hmmmm, Lynn
