Have a 97 ram with 5.9 gas that cranks forever to start. I know there are other threads that talk about this and I've done i believe everything they say to do. Once it starts i can shut it off and it will start right back up but wait an hour and then back to long crank. Everything I've done so far...plugs, wires, cap, bug, fuel pump, injectors. I did most of this while i did the top end of the motor. It had started this before i did all the work. Any other ideas.

Test fuel pressure at the first cold startup, see how long it takes to get up to pressure. (should be around 49psi for you.)

What brand fuel pump did you put in?

 

Crank or cam sensor was a thought.
I also did replace the temp sending unit that goes to the computer.
Fuel pump was replaced with ULTRA-POWERE7093M.
I did check the fuel pressure before i replaced the injectors and after the fuel pump replacement, kind of a pain since theres no schrader valve on the rail. I dont remember and exact pressure but it was between 45 and 50 psi. It did seem to drop faster than I thought it should so i took out the fuel injectors on the driver side and pressurized them. Two of them had a slight seep so figured the other 4 must hae a bad one. Hence the reason for replacing.
I've tried mashing the pedal to the floor and starting, that doesnt help.
Cycling the key to pump up the system doesnt help.
Doesn't have any codes and fuel mileage has went to crap like 15 down to 12.

 

Gas mileage is usually related to old O2 sensors, but, they have nothing to do with starting a cold engine.
