All 2nd gen 3500s are dual real wheel. Also, the D80 Dually rear is going to be narrower than a single rear wheel rear.

That said, the D60 is no slouch. Unless you are running big power numbers, AND huge tires, AND beat it to death off-road regularly, it should hold up just fine.

I did a MoparFanatic, and have a typo. That should be "all first gen 3500's are dual rear wheel."

Ok, you can point and giggle now.

Why would an axle be too much for the transmission? People put 1 ton axles in Jeeps.

I thought you were making a joke saying all 2500s have two rear wheels (one on each side) . Hey my life is hectic don't always have time to proof read. does your truck have the under rear seat storage?

The 2nd gen 2500 Cummins manual trucks had a SRW Dana 80 in the rear.

No it's a Dana 70U which has a Dana 80 pumpkin but 70 axle tubes (hence why they kneck down at the wheels.

The Dana 70U is a different axle with smaller tubes and 32 spline shafts, it was used in the auto 2500s.
