Default 98 ram 1500 4x4 need help with alignment specs ,caster angles

Replaced all front ent components controll arms ,tie rods , links tie, rod ends, universals , hubs ,ball joints everything but steering box. Brought truck in to dealer to get alignment and now truck wanders(feels like axle shifts side to side). Got a print out first time it went in and the caster angles were 4.2 left and 4.1 right but i could see they didnt adjust them and i had them way off when i brought the truck in. So after a second try at it they checked caster angles again and said they had moved, now they reset to 3.6left and 4.2 right and it is even worse. Also they are saying it is the steering box that has to much play in it , but it was replaced few years back and truck never wandered before replacing all the parts. My question is does anyone what the caster angles should bee set to??

Right around 3 degrees is what I find recommended.

IS your steering sloppy? Play in the steering? What size tires? Did you also replace the track bar? T steering, or inverted Y?

Track bar is new, y steering, the steering really wasnt sloppy before everything was changed, they said steering had slop after second attempt at alignment, tire size 265/16.
shouldn't the caster angle be same on both sides as well as toe ?

Toe should be the same, I think caster is different on one side to account for the crown of the road, or some such.

Generally, when I install new parts, I expect there to be LESS slop, not more.....

4 or more degrees helps avoid death wobble and gains more return from the box. Toe should be dead zero to like a quarter inch toed in. If everything's new, and you have the alignment to this, then yeah it's the box. I went through the same thing. Had dead steering and replaced everything one piece at a time until finally realized it was the box. Most shops (even dealers) are using the computer and they don't know what they're doing anyway so do your own using string.
