Default 01 Ram 2500 Rear Driveshaft U-Joint at Axle

Ok so I have tried all brands of u-joints for my truck and no matter what on the yolk side there is play, where I can take the u-joint or driveshaft and move it side to side. Is there supposed to be a spacer or clips installed on the yolk caps? I have the straps not the flange (all Dana axles should have the straps). I can post a video if you guys want. Even the front driveshaft (at axle) has as much play as the rear. I tried MOOG, ACDelco, Duralast, Spicer, Napa.

There should be no side to side movement. I'm not looking at my driveshaft right now, however, I do believe clips are affixed to the inside part of the bearing cap to help seat them properly within the yoke.

You should be able to view a Dodge Ram U-joint install on YouTube that should show the proper install process.

I know there should be no side to side movement. I did look at videos and only seen them do the outside clips on the driveshaft caps. This is the first U-joint that has given me problems in all my years of doing them

Hmm, looking around Rockauto's website they list 4 ! different yokes for a 2500 Dana 60. 1310, 1330, 1350 and 1410 u-joints ... Look at the dimensions listed there to figure out what yoke you have.

Damn 4
Looks like a 1410 u joint because that is what fits in the driveshaft and the one with the least amount of play in the yolk

Has someone put an oddball yoke on that rear? Perhaps one from a Ford? As has been stated earlier, time to measure the yoke so you can find the correct U-Joint or possibly swap out the yoke.

Do you have the old U-joint that you removed? Did it fit correctly? If so, perhaps that can be used to match up the correct joint?

Have you looked it up at the dana/spicer site? It lists everything but i don't know all the details of your truck(long/short bed single/double shaft etc).

I was thinking that and will have to measure it, didn't want to (Lazy lol) but will have to. The old one had slop and I threw it away. Mine you I changed the joints back when I had the truck down to it's frame. What I find weird is the front shaft does the same thing.

Replace the yoke with the correct one for your truck.
