Default Horn Trouble

Hi all. I'm new to the group and new to the 2nd gen family since purchasing my 1999 Ram 2500 2wd V10. My question is regarding my horn not working. I am unable to get the horn to work with the button on the steering wheel but the horn honks when I lock the doors with the fob. Does anyone have any insight if this would be a problem in the steering column or maybe a relay? Thanks for any help. It is the only thing that doesn't work on my truck.

The horn button just triggers the relay. At least, it's supposed to...... There is a 'clock spring' in the steering column that connects all the steering wheel controls, to the rest of the truck, does anything else on there work? (cruise control, for instance.)

Yes, the cruise control does work. That is the only other steering wheel controls I have.

I just went outside and tried it, key off and then key on. I don't hear any type of clicking, just silence. Is the relay under the hood, and should I hear it clicking?

Yes you should. Do you have a test light? If so I can give you a test to try but you will need a 2nd person.

I do own a test light but unfortunately I don't have access to a 2nd person tonight. If you have a suggestion I might be able to try it tomorrow. Thanks!

Ok on the relay you would stick the test light in pin 85 (look under the relay the pins should be labeled) it will be a Black/Red wire. Connect your test light to power as the horn switch ground the circuit. You might be able to see it from inside the cab or reach in the window and press the button. It should light up. Let me know what you find

What i would do first is just switch the relay with another one that works. Save you the hassle. You are welcome
