Since your axle is still bolted to the rest of the truck, turning the axle vertical so the shaft is facing down really isn't an option.

Install the NEW seal, don't worry about the additional sealant. Lube the new seal REALLY well on the sealing part, and be sure to slather a bunch of gear lube on the axle when you insert as well.

Yeah I understand it now. And yes, I am lubing everything up good. I think moparfanatic21 thought I had the whole thing removed, or he was messing with me. I walked out to the garage and actually looked thinking what the hell? Then I re read his post. Killer idea though. Seems like every time I do something, I screw something up. Like when I removed the carrier bearings, yep, messed up the shims. Let the good times roll. Thanks again guys, I ain't giving up yet!!

It's all good. Wouldn't be able to do this with out you guys! Any idea on locating a shim kit for the carrier bearings? Thought about flattening them out and going for it. I just don't like doing half *** work. Thanks again.

Finally got my shim kit. What amazed me is that I got enough shims and of the right size to replicate the existing setup. Soo, the carrier has been in the freezer for several days now. My plan is when I get off tomorrow, fire up the kerosene stove and cook the bearings for awhile. Do you think this will help any at all? Or am I just psyching myself out? Thanks again!!!
