Headlight issue
So I bought some aftermarket headlights from Amazon and installed LED bulbs but the bulb retainer won’t go over the LED bulb because of the power wires coming out of the side of the bulb. I had previously done this but had to hack up the plastic retainers to get it to work. Has anyone done anything different to get the bulb to stay in the headlight socket?

I didn’t take any pictures. Found a video though of guy talking very briefly about the same problem. Around the 2:48 mark

This all may be for nothing as my headlight assemblies suck and I will probably be looking for different ones. Just drove it tonight in the dark. Much brighter than my sylvania silver star ultras but the light is scattered with the leds
I already have the heavy duty headlight harness from LMC trucks installed, didn’t help.
May look at spyder or anzo’s. Can’t afford the morimoto assemblies
BTW, Thanks for the quick reply

By assemblies do you mean the whole headlight? If so Morimoto didn't make them for our trucks (that I have found) spyderco is ok but cheap. Have no experience with Anzo

It might be a bit late, I bought replacement headlights from Brock. They work well enough. But I opted to switch to led bulbs. I put in leppein s series. Part number is
lpn RR89547 5243. They come with a cross over cable that will solve any issues
and they accept the original grey bulb connector. Best fix in my opinion

I went with Easy Eagle 9007 LED's. I did have to work the gray lock ring over the wire which comes out of the bulb at a 90 degree angle. However the low beam did not work. Contacted the company via email and they tried really hard at solving my problem. But their translation to English was hard to understand sometimes. Finally realized they said I needed a decoder in order to make them work properly. They even agreed to pay the cost of it for me, but couldn't tell me which one to get. Anyway I sent them back and put the halogens back end. Pstr mentioned a cross over cable to solve issues. Maybe I'll research the Leppein S series. I'm not that good on the electrical side of the truck but it's only three wires which I thought would be high beam, low beam and ground. I haven't done enough research to find out why I would need a decoder or cross over cable.

Update: I emptied my wallet and ordered a set of custom retrofitted HID projectors from RetroShop this weekend.
They have the large shroud Morimoto projectors, 6000k HIDs, and are all one piece, no separate lens for the turn signal. . I believe these will solve my lighting issues. They were $625, but hopefully worth the money..

You can build your own, You need to get the clear lens version housing then install the projector of your choice.
