Default Low oil pressure when warm and stopped

Hey guys was need to see if I can get some feedback or advice I bought a 2000 ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.9 magnum this truck has alittle more than 150k miles on it I didn't notice when I got it but after maybe a week of driving it, it started showing a low oil pressure light and the gauge drops down to zero when at idle or stopped in traffic. Its fine on cold start and show about 50psi until its warm then drops to zero when low rpm. I changed the oil and put a new filter no changes im just hoping its not the bearings, engine runs smooth no knocking or pinging thanks in advance

In the short term, you can go with a heavier weight oil. At that mileage, your timing chain may need replacement. If you do that, you might also put a high VOLUME oil pump in the engine. This will compensate for worn bearings. What oil are you using in it now?

Could be the sending unit to (mine did that) also could be the Plenum (My Durango would go to zero when I stopped)

This.

The oil pressure sending units are notorious for this type of failure. If pressure drops to zero at stops on a warm engine, but, jumps right up to where it should be if you give it even a little bit of gas, that's a bad sending unit.

'Doh! i forgot about failing sending units. Hook a mechanical guage to a tee and read the pressure where the sending unit is. The Tee will let you keep the guage in line so the computer doesn't shut the engine down. If the mechanical reads good pressure, just replace the sending unit.

Your local parts store likely sells them. Jasper makes decent stuff, but, they have some pretty strict requirements if you want the warranty that goes with it. There are numerous others out there.
