Hey is the rear a 9 1/4? I can really tell for the pictures. If the rear is a 9 1/4, you will need a special tool to back off the side load adjusters. Without the tool, you will not be able to remove the LSD.
Amazon Amazon

I just did a LSD swap in my 2020 1500 ram. The rear looks like the similar and I had to buy that tool. I would just replace those side gears, and leave the LSD installed. I would try side gears from a non-lsd from a wrecker and see. You can just pocket those gears and it would be a free fix. Worst case if you find a LSD, keep it for a spare. Best of luck.

yes it is a 9.25 and im not worried about the special tool, special tools can be made haha I read of some people just welding a nut onto a long rod and there is your special tool, cant remember what size nut it was tho, seems like finding the spider gears for limited slip is becoming a challenge, especially for a decent price

Seems as thought Chrysler doesn't sell the 9.25 posi spider gears separately. Unless you can find a used set somewhere, it might be cheaper to purchase a new posi unit. eBay has them running about $300 and up..

Seems like nobody makes them the only company I can find is yukon and they make a hardened forged set for just under 400 dollars 😶 like you said can buy a whole rear end for that, my mission now is to find a limited slip rear end and just switch my ring gear over to it, I looked at 9 trucks over the weekend and they all have 3.55 gears with a couple of them having limited slip, if I just change the ring gear and put in a different differential in will I still have to set the gear mesh for the pinion gear and the ring gear?

You will need to change the ring gear, AND the pinion gear. (and they should be a matched set, from the same rear end as well.) That means you will have to do complete gear setup, as detailed in the service manual. If you haven't done it before, see if you can find someone that has, to give you a hand, either that, or pay someone else to do it for you. It will end up being cheaper that way.......

I had to go through a gearing swap on my front and rear Dana 60s to go from 3.55 to 4.10. I paid a friend to swap 4.10 gears that I purchased, since I'm not fluent with the ring and pinion setup process. This gear setup process definitely adds to the costs.

Some good news hopefully in all this gear driven despair. Several years back, I swapped the 9 1/4 open diff on 'ol blue over to an LSD. I did the work myself. Too cheap to pay someone else. I had or rented most the tools, minus 1. I did the job anyhow, after making the sideload adjuster tool and extensive consultation with the oracle of youtube. I discovered that the most difficult part of my job was not "the experience" or "all the proper tools", but having the one thing I needed most AND absolutely couldn't purchase at any price...patience. But after a great many 4, 8 and 16 letter curse words emanating from my general work area, the job was done. Gear pattern grease n an old gear mesh pattern manual AND youtube made much shorter work outta the job. Good luck!

What if I use my original ring gear and pinion and just swap out the center diff? Bolt my old ring gear on the new to me diff? Would I still have to set the gear mesh?

Yes, you would. Could just leave the pinion in place though. (which makes it easier. )
