Default Transfer case

So I have a 96 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 v8 and my transfer case cracked. I have someone willing to sell me a transfer case that they no longer used but it’s a 241 dhd from a Ram 2500 5.9 v8 I’m wondering if it’d fit. If anyone can confirm this before I purchase that’d be great

It will physically bolt to your trans, but, the case is longer than the stocker. So, you will need to shorten the rear driveshaft for that one.

I think the U-joint at the rear of the shaft will be a different size on the 2500.... Could get a hybrid joint, likely cheaper than having your shaft cut down.

For as many of the 231 cases that are out there, you would think they would be easier to find..... Of course, you can only use the case from a truck that is 97 or older. Newer trucks won't have the provision for the VSS in the tailshaft.
