What you stated about the shifter being tight reminded me of when I have my transmission rebuilt. I had a 01 dodge ram and I had to get the tranny rebuilt at 70k. After the transmission was rebuilt the shifting column has very stiff for a while, I'd say for about 2 months mabye three. So the stiffness you noticed might be from a recent rebuild on the tranny with is great because with the miles it was prolly due for a rebuild. -Tyler

Yeah, mine did that too. It was stiff after being rebuilt. I would think they would have told you if they just rebuilt it , however??? I would have major doubts about the rearend from what you described. One thing I have learned the hard way over the years is to go with your first instinct. If you left it there - there's probably a good reason.......
